The Scholastic Open races are for anyone in high school, middle school, or elementary school. Participants can be on an official school-based cycling team, just individuals, or any size group in between. Scholastic racers can attend public, private, or home schools but they must be student-athletes.
Since the Cedar Hill Race Festival is primarily about raising money for the league and showcasing that scholastic cycling exists we do not offer our usual full slate of races. Instead, we are only offering a single scholastic open category for each discipline/race. All student-athletes should register for and race this scholastic open category. Since this race festival is just a pre-season race the open category will help us determine which student-athletes are best suited for what category ahead of our regular season series of scholastic road racing.
Our regular category offerings are:
- Boys: Varsity, JV, Novice
- Girls: Varsity, JV
In case you didn’t know yet “open” means anyone of any ability can compete in that mixed event so for scholastic open this means all students will race in a single race that starts at the same time. It usually then quickly breaks up into smaller groups of racers more aptly suited for one another as racers can no longer hold the pace of the leaders.
If you are 12-14 and wanting to race then we strongly encourage you to really register for the scholastic open category instead of the juniors 19-14 category.
Finally, please let us know what school you go to and enter into your bikereg profile when you are registering for this event.
